Following a Star, Driving Home

, , , , , , , , ,

When my husband Lucus and I lived in New Mexico, my commute was over a hundred miles each way. Apart from summer camp, I never spent too much time looking up at the stars. But three nights a week, I found myself spending several hours in the car and frequently glancing up at the night sky. When I left work, half the drive was north and then I turned west. At that turn, I started to notice a bright star greeting me as I headed home. At first, I only saw it from time to time, but then I began to look for it. Would the sky be clear enough? Would it still be there or had I imagined it? Was it too much to say that it guided me home?
