John 15:1-8
Eastertide B23
1 “I am the trueA vine,B and my Father is the vinegrower.C
2 He removesD every branchE in me that bearsF no fruit.G Every branch that bears fruit he prunesH to make it bear more fruit.
3 You have already been cleansedI by the wordJ that I have spoken to you. 4 AbideK in me as I abide in you. Just as the branch cannot bear fruit by itself unless it abides in the vine, neither can you unless you abide in me. 5 I am the vine, you are the branches. Those who abide in me and I in them bear much fruit, because apart from me you can doL nothing.
6 Whoever does not abide in me is thrownM away like a branch and withers;N such branches are gathered,O thrown into the fire,P and burned.Q
7 If you abide in me, and my wordsR abide in you, askS for whatever you wish,T and it will be doneU for you.
8 My Father is glorifiedV by this, that you bear much fruit and becomeW my disciples.X
