Theologies of the Messiah

A series of lessons in 3 parts

Usually when we think about the messiah, we look back, focusing on who Jesus was and what he did. We rarely think about where this theology came from, how it grew and evolved over time. This study looks at the historical context of different time periods and many different passages within and outside the Bible that contributed to Jewish (and later Christian) understandings of a messiah to come. This study can be done in 3 or 6 sessions since each lesson is very full. It was originally done as an Advent evening study, but would work other times of the year, too.
